Cost of living in indonesia?
Is a combined monthly salary of 27 million rupiah enough for a young asian-expatriate couple to live there? we'll be staying in jakarta but not yet sure about the exact location. help will be appreciated very much. Thanks..

That much of salary will make you called as a rich-family in Indonesia. The cost of living in Indonesia are cheap. For example you can eat a meal for i person just around 8000 rupiah that give you rice + fried chicken or fried fish + soup. For 1 person along to live in Indonesia just need 8000 x 3 [ eat 3 times a day ] x 30 = 720000/month or grossly 1 million rupiah per month that will include transfortation fee. As for borrowing house is around 4 millions - 10 millions rupiah/year in Indonesia.

Depending on your lifestyle, if you are Korean or Japanese and you may get a meal of Korean or Japanese restaurant too, if you were both busy working. I think your salary enough to live in Jakarta. For days you might need 300 thousand dollars per day to buy your food from a Korean/Japanese restaurant, unless you cook your own food, you can buy raw food with very cheap price. .. :-) I assume you live in an apartment, the maintenance cost is 3.5 to 5 million dollars, hopefully your company will cover your housing and transportation costs.
