There are many, many ways... To get a green card specifically, you can - marry an American Citizen or - participate in the Green Card Lottery (Diversity Program), your chances per year are about 0.5% or - enter the US legally on a work Visa such as an H1B. For that Visa you need a bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience. Many people believe this Visa is just for Computer Specialists. It just needs to be a specialty occupation, for example you could be the chef in a famous Indonesian Restaurant. Then you need to find an employer that will sponsor you, and that can prove that no american employee is available to do your job. - If you have a Master's degree and have considerable achievements in your field of work (pulications for example), you can get a Visa or Green Card. There are other ways, that likely do not apply. I am in the US for 7+ years now, and I am waiting for my Green Card. It is not easy. But, on the other hand, what would it take for an American to get Legal Permanent Residence in Indonesia? Compared to other countries, at least there is a process.

Just join the school program, college, academy or university that majoring any education with any job placement throuhout USA. This will take you at least 1 year to study and 2 year to work in USA legally. Total of 3 years in USA. In that time there should be no difficulties to obtain a green card with your job and education track in USA. Meanwhile in that 3 years... do make friend with people from Indonesian embassy/consulate. They will help you a lot to receieve. In this 3 years as well, you can try many trick to get one. The key is formality. Yes, you have to follow the formality... then everything would be easy. But to follow the formality in accepting green card in USA is NOT that easy. Good luck.
